To participate in the Miss Tonga Australia Pageant, contestants must meet the following general criteria:

1. Age: must be between 18-25 years old by the time of the pageant.
2. Citizenship: Participants must hold citizenship or be a Permanent resident of Australia. 
3. Marital Status: You must not be engaged and/or never been married and/or have had a child.
4. Cultural background/s: Must be part Tongan.
5. Must be born-female.
6. Must not be convicted of any criminal offence and have no charges presently pending.
